Leading organic miso company Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. will release a new and improved version of its “YUKI SODACHI Miso Soup”, already a popular choice for those seeking a convenient way to make organic food part of everyday meals. “In Japanese, ‘YUKI’ means organic, and ‘SODACHI’ means cultivated. “This new, refreshed “YUKI SODACHI Miso Soup” will be available from September 1, 2025, at supermarkets and other retail outlets throughout Japan.

The market for organic food products in Japan is growing annually, with sales forecast to top 167 billion yen for the 2025 fiscal year. *1 To help cater to the needs of this market, leading organic miso manufacturer Hikari Miso is releasing an even better version of its popular “YUKO SODACHI Miso Soup” organic miso soup.
■ ”YUKI SODACHI MISO SOUP” ORGANIC MISO SOUP
“YUKI SODACHI Miso Soup” is made from miso with a smooth, mild flavor, made by combining carefully crafted and aged organic white and red miso varieties. All ingredients, from the soybeans and rice that form the basis of miso, to the soup additions, have been cultivated purely through the power of nature, using no prohibited chemicals or chemical fertilizers, and are Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) organic certified.
■ IMPROVEMENTS
Organic wakame for a more substantial soup
Organic wakame has been added to the previous organic tofu and organic green onion in the soup, and the dried wakame quickly rehydrates when boiling water is poured over it. The organic wakame used by Hikari Miso holds JAS organic seaweed certification, based on the organic methods used in seaweed production. Organic seaweed standards only came into effect in January 2022, and Hikari Miso is the first in the industry*2 to use organic wakame in an instant miso soup.
Lower price, for everyday peace of mind
To encourage those with a particular interest in food safety and health to incorporate “YUKI SODACHI Miso Soup” in their diet every day, the number of servings per pack has been changed from six to five, and the price of each pack has been reduced.
More taste-tempting packaging
The composite paper and plastic outer packaging have been retained, but with cozy, warmer tones replacing the original green with a design evoking good flavor and homely hospitality. A large visual of the soup ready for eating has also been included for added taste-tempting appeal.
