HIKARI MISO LAUNCHES NEW “SHICHIMI MISO SOUP” COLLABORATION WITH YAWATAYA ISOGORO

Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. announces the launch of “SHICHIMI Miso Soup 4 Servings” and “SHICHIMI Miso Soup Cup,” two new collaborative products featuring shichimi seasoning from Yawataya Isogoro Ltd. These new miso soup options for the discerning palate offer an irresistible combination of smooth Shinshu white miso, and the finest, spicy shichimi.
Both products will be available from March 1, 2025, at supermarkets and other retail outlets throughout Japan.

■ “SHICHIMI MISO SOUP 4 SERVINGS” AND “SHICHIMI MISO SOUP CUP” FEATURES
“SHICHIMI Miso Soup” is a heat spicy miso soup, catering to a growing consumer preference for spicier flavors. A quest for the best shichimi seasoning match for smooth, mellow Shinshu miso led to a collaboration with fellow Shinshu company Yawataya Isogoro, one of Japan’s top three shichimi manufacturers, whose product provides the ideal balance of pungency and aroma.
Here at Hikari Miso we selected a miso with the characteristic pale coloring and vibrant flavor of Shinshu miso paste. We created a soup highlighting miso’s natural taste and shichimi’s fragrance, without using any additives. A hint of mirin is the secret ingredient in a recipe that serves up a sublime symphony of shichimi and miso.
Yawataya Isogoro shichimi contains ginger, giving it a particular pungency and intensity that make it the perfect match for miso. It is manufactured using bespoke roasting and crushing processes that take into account the premium qualities of the ingredients, giving each the chance to shine. Add the contents of the shichimi sachet (0.2g) supplied to the soup just before serving for the freshest flavor and a piquant hint of heat. To ensure the shichimi takes center stage, we have chosen to limit the other ingredients to a simple but delicious three: fried tofu, wakame seaweed, and green onions.

Shichimi means “seven flavors,” and Yawataya Isogoro shichimi contains chili pepper for heat, plus ginger and sansho (Japanese pepper) for pungency and aroma; and hemp seed, sesame, dried orange peel and shiso for superb flavor and aroma.
