Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. announces the launch of “CRAFT MISO TOROMI”, an easy-pour miso in a bottle, an addition to the “CRAFT MISO” range that offers a new style of miso.  “CRAFT MISO TOROMI” will be available from March 1, 2026, at supermarkets and other retail outlets throughout Japan.

The Japanese term toromi describes a thick, fluid substance, and “CRAFT MISO TOROMI” consists of our usual premium-quality miso delivered as a smooth, easy-pour liquid. “CRAFT MISO TOROMI” can be poured directly from the bottle with one hand, rather than scooped out with a spoon in the manner of conventional miso, making meal preparation easier, and placing the versatile magic of miso truly at your fingertips.

“CRAFT MISO TOROMI” FEATURES

Made by taking our usual miso paste and employing fermentation technology to achieve a softer, pourable consistency, “CRAFT MISO TOROMI” is a new liquid miso ready to enjoy straight from the bottle in a wide range of dishes, including as a dressing for salads and western-style food.

While ordinary fresh miso must be scooped from the container with a spoon or ladle and dissolved in water for use, “CRAFT MISO TOROMI” can be poured straight from the bottle to a frypan one-handed while cooking, or drizzled over food before serving, making it easier to prepare and enjoy miso-based dishes.

Authentic miso flavor makes a versatile addition to virtually any dish

“CRAFT MISO TOROMI” delivers authentic miso flavor without the addition of dashi stock, making it ideal for all kinds of cooking, including as a dressing for western-style dishes and salads, and in Chinese cuisine. Apart from its obvious applications as a condiment in sauteed and stewed dishes, “CRAFT MISO TOROMI” can be used to make a basic miso soup by simply dissolving it in boiling water and adding katsuobushi (bonito flakes). This rich, full-bodied liquid miso also makes an ideal alternative to soy sauce for drizzling over sashimi or tofu.

THE “COZY AND KOJI” BLENDING PROCESS

A process exclusive to Hikari Miso, “Cozy and Koji” blending is the product of exhaustive experimentation by a team of our veteran miso-makers determined to achieve optimal blending and temperature control. The “Cozy and Koji” process is used for products in the “CRAFT MISO” range, miso-makers devoting considerable time and care to maximize sweetness and flavor. The addition of a generous quantity of “Cozy koji” malted rice, combined with lengthy maturation, gives “CRAFT MISO TOROMI” its full-bodied taste and luxurious pouring consistency, and the perfect balance of sweet and umami elements.
