To Exhibit at ANUGA 2025, Europe’s Largest Food Trade Fair

From October 4 to 8, 2025, Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. will exhibit at ANUGA 2025, one of Europe’s largest food trade fairs, to be held in Cologne, Germany.
The company will showcase its products at two locations: Booth C-047a in the Japan Pavilion (Hall 2.1), and Booth B066 in the Anuga Organic area (Passage 4/5), a special section dedicated exclusively to organic products. At the Japan Pavilion, Hikari Miso will present a broad lineup mainly showcasing miso and instant miso soup for the European market. In the Anuga Organic section, the company will feature seven types of organic miso along with liquid miso products specifically developed for the European market as well.
Through these exhibits, Hikari Miso aims to promote the cultural and culinary value of miso worldwide.

◆ Soaring international demand for Japanese and fermented foods drives record miso exports
The growing global popularity of Japanese cuisine and fermented foods has fueled steady growth in miso exports year after year. In 2024, total miso exports reached a record 23,497 tons, representing a 115% increase compared to the previous year*. Hikari Miso also achieved growth of more than 115% year-on-year in its export volume for 2024.
This strong performance has been led by products sold in exclusive overseas packaging as well as by rising demand for safe, high-quality organic miso. Rather than simply exporting products developed for the domestic market, Hikari Miso has expanded its sales by creating items customized for local preferences. As a result, the company now exports to more than 55 countries worldwide, with a particular focus on the United States and Europe.

◆ Three decades of Hikari Miso’s commitment to organic miso
Guided by its brand message, “Nature’s Best, From Our Family to Yours,” Hikari Miso has consistently placed organic miso at the heart of its business. From the outset, the company has pursued uncompromising taste while ensuring the highest standards of safety and trust through third-party organic certifications.
In 1997, ahead of the establishment of the Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) for organic products in 1999, Hikari Miso obtained certification from the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) in the United States and launched full-scale sales of organic miso. This was followed by JAS organic certification in 2001, USDA National Organic Program (NOP) certification later that same year, and EU organic certification from ECOCERT in 2008.
Since then, Hikari Miso has continued to deliver a wide variety of organic miso products not only in Japan but also in international markets. Expanding the organic miso business has been designated as a key initiative within the company’s sustainability action plan, contributing to building a sustainable supply chain from production through to consumption.
