Hikari Miso to Introduce Premium Harusame Noodle Soup with 80% More Noodles

A brand new noodle soup lineup from Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. will be available at supermarkets and grocery stores in Japan starting September 1, 2020. The Premium Harusame Noodle Soup series will have 80% more harusame (mung bean) noodles (1) and feature three flavors: Egg Drop and Chicken Flavor, Spicy Sesame Miso Flavor, and Scallop Flavor.

Upgraded Soup Product with Rich Flavor and Fulfilling Noodles

The Premium Harusame Noodle Soup contains five servings and offers three delectable selections of premium soup. For the Egg Drop and Chicken Flavor, the harusame and fluffy egg drop are mixed well in umami-rich soup made with hearty chicken stock. Lovers of dan-dan noodle soup will delight in the savory, spicy soup in the Spicy Sesame Miso Flavor that is reminiscent of the classic Chinese Sichuan dish. Lastly, the reliably rich taste of scallop stands out in a milky seafood soup of the Scallop Flavor. All three come with additional flavor oil or paste for creating a richer, more luxurious taste as well as 80% more noodles to guarantee a delicious and satisfying meal for the most robust appetites.

Developing New Series to Highlight Benefits of Harusame

While making excellent miso is at the core of Hikari Miso’s operations, the company has also developed instant miso soups, Western-style soups, and other products to respond to lifestyle changes and requests for diversification. By cultivating the craft of mixing flavors for instant miso soups and applying such techniques to make noodle soups, Hikari Miso has been able to take the familiar and genuine flavor of the soups and successfully convert them into instant versions.

Since going on sale, customers have raved about the harusame soup products, as they are convenient options for busy mornings, lunch, or even as a healthy snack, making the soups stock-worthy choices for the office or the kitchen pantry.

Nonetheless, there has been a shift in the market for noodle soups in recent years, with the demand for pasta expanding, while the harusame has seen a downtrend in popularity despite making up nearly 70% of the market (2). To respond to this movement, the company developed this new series highlighting the benefits of harusame, which include not only being a low-calorie option to placate hunger, but also a satisfactory part of a meal.
