Hikari Miso to Introduce “Misoya Master Blend” Marinade Products

A new series of marinades from Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. will go on sale in Japan beginning on March 1, 2021. The series Misoya Master Blend, designed to make cooking more enjoyable with miso, offers two varieties: Lemon Chicken Marinade and Ginger Pork Marinade.

Misoya Master Blend – New, Fun Partnership between Miso and Cooking

Hikari Miso is releasing the miso-based Misoya Master Blend series as a menu-specific lineup with the special blend of seasonings, which is created by the company’s expert in blending miso and seasoning ingredients.

Misoya Master Blend Lemon Chicken Marinade combines mild miso with the refreshing zest of lemon. Rosemary and thyme are added to enhance the naturally delicious flavor of chicken. Misoya Master Blend Ginger Pork Marinade brings bolder-tasting miso, ginger and apple all together, accented by cinnamon to go with the sweet flavor.

The new release is to respond to the rising trend in menu-specific seasoning, also in meal kits that contain pre-portioned food for single servings. It can be gathered that there is an increase in consumer demand to provide home-cooked meals for one’s family in the midst of the busy day to day, without resorting to ready-made side dishes and frozen foods. The array of menu-specific seasoning products put out by food companies has been continuously growing, and the past year showed an 105% (*1) increase in sales.

Development on New Line with Concept of Cooking Friendly

The new Misoya Master Blend Lemon Chicken Marinade and Misoya Master Blend Ginger Pork Marinade are miso-based marinades used for preparing meat. A main dish can be ready by following four easy steps. Using miso as a base, Hikari Miso has added herbs, spices and fruits to create these novel flavors. The concept for this new line is “cooking friendly.” These marinades are perfect for those whose days are packed with work, household chores, and taking care of the children. These busy people may not have a lot of time to spend on cooking, but want to feed their family with home-cooked meals with healthy ingredients that they can feel good about.

Concept of Cooking Friendly

  1. Simple to make (just rub in and cook)
  2. Makes cooking more enjoyable with the new partnership between miso and cooking
  3. Only uses ingredients staple at home
  4. No MSG

Since last April, people have been spending more time at home in the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and experiencing more opportunities for cooking and eating at home. With these changes, there was a shift in attitudes towards cooking at home in that consumers not only sought to cut down on the hassle of cooking to fit their busy schedules, but also the desire to “add a little variety to home cooked meals,” and to “try making new dishes and experience new flavors.”

In the midst of these new attitudes, the concept of advance food preparation — buying all ingredients together, seasoning and then storing for later use — was garnering attention. The spread of COVID-19 brought an increase in cooking related internet searches and the release of a myriad of cookbooks.

Miso has always been a beloved and indispensable seasoning ingredient. Since there is no right or wrong way to use miso in cooking, many use their favorite miso in preparing all kinds of dishes. This is what inspired Hikari Miso to devise these special miso blends to be optimal for cooking. The company continues to strive for diverse seasoning options by combining various herbs, spices and fruits with miso.
