Japan’s top organic miso maker, Hikari Miso, will further cement its status as a leader in organic when it exhibits its triple-certified organic miso products in Nuremberg, Germany at BIOFACH 2018 – the world’s leading trade fair for organic food. Hikari Miso will showcase its organic miso paste and organic M1inute Miso products in Hall 1 at Booth #1-411 from Feb. 14-17 to more than 51,000 expected attendees at the world’s largest organic food trade show.

Organic White MisoHikari Miso’s organic red, white, saikyo sweet, dashi, brown rice and mild sodium miso are not only certified organic, but are triple certified: USDA Certified Organic, European Union Organic and Japanese Agricultural Standard Organic. Hikari Miso is the only miso brand to earn all three organic certifications. The products are also additive-free, gluten-free and contain no MSG or GMOs.

Since 2005, Hikari Miso has purchased certified organic soybeans and rice to support organic farmers and the land on which they farm with restorative practices. Based at the foot of the Japanese Alps in Nagano, Hikari Miso is made with simple, natural ingredients: soybeans, rice, salt and water, with no artificial ingredients, flavors or preservatives.

Miso continues to grow in popularity, both on it its own as an ingredient and as part of a larger trend toward fermented food. Miso soup was included in one of the top trends in Whole Foods Market’s 2017 trend forecast and Vogue’s 2017 food trend forecast, and miso was listed in three of the top 20 restaurant trends for 2016 as a trendy ingredient for chefs.

“I am excited to share my family’s generations-old organic miso recipe with the world,” said Yoshihiro ‘Joshu’ Hayashi, fourth generation of his family to lead Hikari Miso and CEO and president of Hikari Miso Co., Ltd. “We have been making organic miso since 1936. Our triple certified organic products bridge the simpler diet of times past with today’s modern lifestyle for healthy living.”

“We feel good about our support of certified organic farmers of rice and soybeans for our products,” Hayashi said. “We believe organic practices will regenerate the land, while avoiding toxic chemicals in our air and water. Good for the ecosystem. Good for us all.”

Hikari Miso’s presence at BIOFACH validates not only the growing popularity of miso among consumers, but also solidifies miso’s status in the organic industry.
